About the Role

At JPMorganChase, the Software Engineer III position within the Employees Platform involves being an experienced contributor on an agile team tasked with designing and delivering reliable, secure, and scalable market-leading technology solutions. The role supports various business functions by developing critical software systems aligned with the firm's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions with innovative approaches beyond conventional methods to solve complex problems.
• Write secure, high-quality production code and maintain synchronous algorithms integrated with relevant systems.
• Utilize enterprise-approved AI coding assistance tools to enhance code quality, speed of delivery, and overall productivity for complex projects, incorporating peer reviews, automated tests, and secure coding standards. Share best practices and reusable patterns with the team to elevate effectiveness.
• Employ software development lifecycle tools, including AI-driven automation capabilities, to optimize automation value.
• Create architecture and design documents for complex applications ensuring that all design constraints are satisfied through code development.
• Analyze and visualize large, varied datasets to continuously improve software applications and systems.
• Identify underlying problems and trends in data proactively to enhance code quality and system architecture.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Formal education or certification in software engineering with extensive applied experience.
• Hands-on expertise in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code using modern programming and database query languages within a large corporate environment.
• Practical use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, with ability to critically assess AI outputs for accuracy, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI integration, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and adherence to resilience and security standards, with the capability to guide peers on safe application.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle and agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Expertise in building production services using Python frameworks (Flask or FastAPI) and/or Node.js frameworks (Express or NestJS), alongside modern web user interfaces via React with TypeScript.
• Experience designing REST APIs, managing relational or document databases, and implementing automated tests using tools like pytest, Jest, and React Testing Library.
• Comfort with deploying services on AWS using container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and managing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Spinnaker.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in TypeScript on both backend and frontend development.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka and SQS.
• Experience with observability platforms including Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, or OpenTelemetry.
• Background working in financial services or regulated industries.
