Site Engineer - Road Construction

Overview

The Road Project Engineer is tasked with planning, directing, and supervising on-site construction activities for road, highway, and related infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all construction tasks meet safety standards, project specifications, quality benchmarks, contractual obligations, and timelines. Close collaboration with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel is essential to secure successful project completion.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily road construction operations aligned with project timelines and milestones, reviewing all technical documents and work plans to facilitate smooth execution.
• Organize labor forces, equipment, and material resources necessary for site activities.
• Track progress closely and propose adjustments to mitigate scheduling delays.
• Supervise construction tasks such as earthworks, grading, embankment building, subgrade preparation, pavement installation, drainage, culverts, and road accessories, ensuring compliance with approved designs and engineering standards.
• Maintain high productivity and quality standards on site, resolving technical issues with design and project teams as needed.
• Coordinate with surveyors, quality inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to guarantee seamless workflow.
• Compile and present detailed daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and attend site meetings to update project management.
• Implement and uphold health, safety, and environmental protocols through site inspections, safety briefings, hazard identification, and mitigation efforts, fostering a strong safety culture among all personnel.
• Ensure construction quality by coordinating inspections, material verifications, and lab tests, addressing any quality discrepancies promptly.
• Manage material receipt, storage, and use to minimize waste or damage, and oversee equipment mobilization aligned with project demands.
• Oversee subcontractor operations to confirm compliance with quality, safety, and schedule requirements; validate completed work volumes and progress.
• Maintain detailed documentation including site records, inspection and progress reports, and technical files; ensure usage of current approved drawings; assist with as-built documentation and project closure paperwork.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in road, highway, or infrastructure construction, with solid background in site supervision and coordination.
• Good understanding of road construction techniques, specifications, and quality standards.
