Senior Solutions Architect - Dynamics 365, .NET & Azure

Overview

We are partnering with a client based in Wellington seeking a Senior Solutions Architect specializing in Dynamics 365, .NET, and Azure. This permanent position focuses on designing and supporting large-scale enterprise .NET applications transitioning towards Dynamics 365. The role demands a thorough grasp of application lifecycle management, operational support frameworks, and handling technical debt.

Core Responsibilities and Expertise

• Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining extensive .NET applications aimed at progressing to Dynamics 365 implementations.
• Proven capability working in complex environments that are regulated or mission-critical.
• Deep understanding of the end-to-end application lifecycle, support structures, and managing technical liabilities.

Dynamics 365 Knowledge

• Expertise in deploying solutions utilizing Dynamics 365 platforms.
• Ability to decide when to leverage native Dynamics 365 configuration versus developing custom .NET solutions.

Legacy System Modernisation and Cloud Migration

• Experience in migrating legacy .NET applications to cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
• Ability to evaluate current system architectures and propose modernization and re-platforming strategies.
• Skill in transforming legacy applications into cloud-native architectures using Azure services.
• Familiarity with BizTalk Server for implementing enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience upgrading integration mechanisms, such as moving from BizTalk to Azure Integration Services, API frameworks, or event-driven models.
• Strong comprehension of enterprise messaging, integration solutions, and data flow architecture.

Custom Development and Azure Architectural Skills

• Sound architectural judgement to determine when to implement custom .NET applications on Azure.
• Understanding of Azure services including App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, APIs, and SQL solutions.
• Skill in balancing the use of platform features against custom development to achieve sustainable and maintainable software solutions.

Business and Stakeholder Collaboration

• In-depth knowledge of business processes and their realization in technical solutions.
• Proven success in collaborating directly with business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements effectively into technical designs.
• Comfortable leading workshops, simplifying technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and steering informed decision-making.

Architectural Governance

• Experience in creating comprehensive solution architecture documentation, diagrams, and establishing technical standards.
• Understanding of security, identity management, non-functional requirements, and compliance requisites within enterprise environments.
• Ability to oversee and guide delivery teams architecturally.
• Track record in managing and governing third-party vendors by setting explicit architectural expectations, delivery standards, and ensuring accountability.
• Capability to provide architectural assurance on vendor deliverables, making sure solutions align with designed architectures, organizational standards, and desired target states.
• Proficient in vendor engagement, performance oversight, reviewing design submissions, challenging underlying assumptions, managing project dependencies and risks, and fostering effective communication between internal teams and stakeholders.
