Job Overview
This role involves planning, managing, and overseeing the collection and analysis of petrophysical data crucial to predicting hydrocarbon presence within wells. The data supports accurate calculations of oil and gas reserves and advances reservoir research to guide effective field development planning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and engage in interpreting and assessing petrophysical datasets to identify hydrocarbon types, fluid interfaces, rock lithology, and related physical properties.
- Critically review and integrate petrophysical reports alongside team collaborators to ensure comprehensive study outcomes.
- Provide expert guidance on well completion strategies, determination of casing depth, cement quality, and tubular materials considering corrosion factors.
- Coordinate the creation of petrophysical inputs for exploration, appraisal, development, and reservoir projects, devising methodologies and collaborating with contractor teams.
- Communicate petrophysical results and strategic advice to management and other stakeholders as needed.
- Determine scope, work criteria, timelines, and budgeting for contractors or consultants involved in petrophysical assignments.
- Continuously update and enforce data quality control standards and procedures to maintain high data integrity.
- Develop digitization standards, quality checks, and procedures for various petrophysical data formats.
- Assess existing data to construct and validate models for formation evaluation and reservoir characterization.
- Oversee data processing and handling techniques for single or multiple wells, including key or field-scale projects.
- Enhance rock physical property models to improve accuracy in formation evaluation, reservoir characterization, and ongoing reservoir monitoring.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field, supplemented with minor or specialized courses in petrophysics, applied physics, or advanced mathematics.
- At least eight years of diverse experience across geosciences, drilling operations, reservoir management, and petroleum engineering disciplines.
