Job description

About the Team

The Commercial & Estimating division plays a crucial role in ensuring project financial success and contract compliance. This team focuses on cost control, procurement, valuations, and contract oversight by collaborating with project managers, quantity surveyors, and clients to monitor budgets, reduce risks, and enhance value. Their efforts guarantee that projects are completed on schedule, within the allocated budget, and according to contractual standards, protecting client satisfaction and company profits.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Lead Estimator, you will be a key contributor to the Commercial Team tasked with preparing precise cost estimates for electrical works on our data centre projects. Daily tasks involve estimating costs for a variety of commercial and industrial uses including custom plantrooms, risers, laterals, and prefabricated elements. You will be responsible for creating detailed electrical takeoffs for turnkey commercial ventures, actively engaging with suppliers to secure accurate quotes for specialist equipment.

You will additionally coordinate with contract managers, the purchasing team, and other commercial professionals to ensure a smooth progression from initial cost estimation through design, installation, and project completion. The role is primarily based at our Dundalk office with a requirement to attend the Mallusk (Belfast) office once weekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender and enquiry review documentation to support bid assessments.
  • Analyze schematics, designs, and 3D models.
  • Conduct electrical material and labor takeoffs to develop precise project budgets.

  • Maintain cost databases and benchmarking metrics.
  • Work with the commercial team to evaluate labor needs.
  • Participate in site and internal project meetings as necessary.
  • Compile detailed project handover packages to enable a seamless transition to the delivery teams.

Working Hours and Location

The position operates from Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm, and Friday from 8am to 3pm, based mainly in Dundalk with one day per week attendance in Belfast.
