Role Overview and Responsibilities

Joining the Communications team based in Dubai, you will play a crucial role in shaping both the external narrative and internal messaging that reflect Careem's mission to simplify lives and foster an inspiring work environment. Your responsibilities will encompass:

Crafting and implementing external communication strategies that highlight Careem’s services—ride-hailing, food delivery, payments, quick commerce—and its broader mission
Managing and nurturing media relations, including outreach, drafting press releases, and maintaining connections with key journalists and influencers throughout priority markets
Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Product, Marketing, Policy, and People to ensure aligned and consistent messaging across all platforms
Leading crisis communication and reputation management initiatives alongside senior leadership
Monitoring media coverage, and compiling detailed reports to evaluate communication effectiveness and inform strategic improvements
Enhancing leadership visibility by supporting media interviews, speaking engagements, and content creation both internally and externally
Facilitating internal communications, including leadership updates, company-wide presentations (all-hands), announcements, and engagement campaigns to keep employees well-informed and motivated

Required Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 5 to 7 years in communications, public relations, or journalism, preferably within fast-growing technology firms or prestigious PR agencies
Demonstrable expertise in devising and executing communications strategies across diverse markets
Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial abilities that simplify complex information into compelling narratives
A robust media network and adept relationship management skills, particularly within the MENA region
Proven capacity to juggle multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Fluency in both English and Arabic, essential for this role

Additional Information

Location: Dubai, reporting within the Communications department
Collaboration spans teams across the UAE, KSA, Egypt, Pakistan, and Jordan
This position is a fixed-term contract for one year with potential for renewal based on performance and organizational requirements
