About the Role
Amwins Self-Funded is seeking a Claims Manager to oversee and support a dedicated claims team, optimize daily operations, and ensure outstanding client and partner service. This full-time position is primarily office-based in Scottsdale, AZ, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week following completion of training.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations and support for assigned claims team members, including recommendations on staffing, promotions, performance reviews, and disciplinary measures as needed.
- Manage team member performance through consistent feedback, accountability, training, and technical coaching, working alongside the Claims Lead to provide focused guidance.
- Collaborate with the Claims Quality team to utilize audit results for team development, monitoring quality trends, and request escalated audit support when necessary.
- Maintain the master list of groups and cases with all contractual claims service details within the Claims Department.
- Distribute client account assignments fairly based on workload considerations.
- Supervise the filing process for Stop Loss Claims within the department.
- Act as an expert resource on complex claims, overseeing high-priority submissions and providing team guidance relating to claims, correspondence, and procedures.
- Review claims and handle reimbursement filings and reporting to Stop Loss carriers when applicable.
- Generate and manage monthly claims reports and notifications to Stop Loss carriers as needed.
- Support the creation and implementation of policies, processes, and improvements that enhance claims operations.
- Work with the Director of Claims to maintain consistent, top-tier client service delivery.
- Foster constructive relationships both internally across departments and externally with carriers, brokers, consultants, and administrators to facilitate effective service.
- Partner with the Claims Trainer(s) to assess skill gaps, coordinate training initiatives, and promote team development.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum two years management experience with a strong passion for leading, coaching, and developing personnel.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or alternatively 3–5+ years of experience in Group Benefits.
- Experience in claims or production environments for 3–5 years preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Exceptional time management capabilities to prioritize workload and meet deadlines effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills for effective teamwork and respectful partnerships.
- Highly organized with excellent multitasking abilities.
- Clear, professional, and thoughtful communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with follow-through and a sense of urgency.
