नोकरीचे वर्णन

About the Team

KPMG’s Cyber Security Office is responsible for defending the organisation, its clients, and digital assets against changing cyber risks. Within this function, the Security Operations Centre acts as the first line of defence, delivering round-the-clock monitoring, threat identification, incident handling, and operational security support for both internal and client environments.

You will join a cooperative, highly capable group of cyber security specialists who focus on safeguarding important systems, examining security incidents, and improving cyber resilience. This opportunity is well suited to someone aiming to grow a career in cyber security while gaining hands-on exposure to modern tools, detection methods, and response workflows.

Your Opportunity

In this Level 1 SOC Analyst role, you will review and assess security alerts, assist with incident investigations, and help keep the security operations function running effectively. Working with advanced security platforms, you will identify likely threats, investigate alerts, and support response tasks under the direction of senior analysts.

The role suits someone with a genuine interest in cyber security, a willingness to learn, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving operational setting. You will build practical technical, analytical, and investigative capabilities while helping protect critical systems and business activity.

How You Stand Out

The team is looking for people who demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical ability: you enjoy examining issues, spotting trends, and using evidence to form sound conclusions.
  • High attention to detail: you can review information carefully, follow set procedures, and keep accurate records even when volumes are high.
  • Teamwork and communication: you work well with others, communicate clearly, and contribute positively toward shared outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring and Alert Triage

  • Track alerts and events across enterprise networks, endpoints, cloud services, and monitoring platforms.
  • Carry out first-pass assessment of alerts to judge whether they are legitimate, how serious they may be, and what action is needed.
  • Escalate verified or suspicious activity to senior analysts in line with SOC procedures.
  • Record investigations, findings, and follow-up actions accurately in incident systems.

Incident Response Support

  • Assist with incident investigations by gathering evidence, checking alert validity, and carrying out defined response steps.
  • Work in accordance with established incident response playbooks and operational processes.
  • Help with containment and remediation efforts under senior SOC guidance.
  • Communicate clearly and coordinate effectively during live incidents.

Threat Analysis and Investigation

  • Build knowledge of common cyber threats, attack methods, and indicators of compromise.
  • Use SIEM and other monitoring tools to spot unusual behaviour, suspicious activity, and new threat patterns.
  • Support senior analysts with investigative and analytical work.

Operational Excellence

  • Follow SOC workflows, procedures, and shift handover practices.
  • Contribute to documentation, incident logs, and operational playbooks.
  • Look for ways to improve processes, alert quality, and documentation standards.

Learning and Collaboration

  • Keep developing cyber security knowledge through training and practical experience.
  • Take part in knowledge sharing and lessons learned sessions.
  • Work closely with SOC colleagues, technology teams, and wider cyber security stakeholders.
  • Support client and stakeholder interactions where the SOC provides managed or advisory services.

Experience and Requirements

  • Clear interest in cyber security and security operations.
  • Basic understanding of cyber security concepts, threats, vulnerabilities, and defensive controls.
  • Working familiarity with SIEM platforms or security monitoring tools.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and perform effectively in an operational environment.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and build technical and investigative skills.
  • Prior exposure to a Security Operations Centre, IT operations, service desk, technology support, or a similar environment.
  • Experience with cyber security monitoring, incident response, threat detection, or vulnerability management activities is beneficial.
  • Experience working within structured operational workflows and escalation paths.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Security Fundamentals (SC-900)
  • Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200)
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • SOC Analyst, SIEM Fundamentals, Incident Response, or related cyber security training
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing learning in cyber security.
