Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time remote instructor proficient in Scratch and Python coding to teach foundational programming skills to children and adolescents between 5 and 18 years old. The position entails delivering live online coding classes, designing lesson plans and educational materials aligned with FcC’s curriculum, and tailoring instruction to various ages and abilities. The role includes mentoring learners through coding projects, offering constructive feedback, evaluating student progress, and keeping detailed records. Collaboration with fellow mentors to enhance course content and participation in training sessions are essential, alongside maintaining regular communication with both students and their caregivers to ensure engagement and success.

Qualifications

• Solid expertise with Scratch and Python programming languages, capable of conveying concepts effectively to young learners.
• Proven experience in teaching or mentoring STEM subjects, coding, or related areas for children and teens aged 5–18, preferably in an online environment.
• Strong communication skills, adept at classroom management and interpersonal engagement, with a teaching approach centered on the learner.
• Comfortable working remotely with reliable internet connectivity and proficient in using online teaching platforms and digital educational tools.
• Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related discipline, or holds equivalent practical teaching experience in coding.
• Ability to create age-appropriate and engaging projects that promote computational thinking and logical reasoning within an inclusive learning setting.
• Organized and detail-oriented for lesson preparation, student progress monitoring, and timely reporting.
• Open to continuous learning and professional development, adopting best teaching practices and collaborating effectively with the instructional team.
