Job description
About Folks
Folks is a fast-growing technology company based in Quebec focused on transforming human resources for small and medium Canadian enterprises. Their comprehensive SaaS platform includes more than 30 modules that centralize employee lifecycle management for over 1,300 clients across the nation, enabling businesses to concentrate on their workforce.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Sales Director, as a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will be the initial contact for prospects in Ontario. Your goal is to grab their attention over the phone, swiftly assess their needs, and arrange qualified appointments for the Account Executives (AEs). This is a fully remote position, requiring residency in Ontario, and Folks will supply you with a complete home office setup, including laptop, headset, and dual monitors. The team also meets a few times annually in Quebec and at HR industry events.
Key Details
- Your primary communication channel will be the phone, with an expectation of 60 to 80 calls daily. Prospect lists are pre-qualified and loaded into Apollo and Pipedrive, so no list building or email/LinkedIn outreach is required.
- You will experience frequent rejection but must quickly qualify leads based on the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and hand off fully qualified leads to AEs who handle the detailed discovery process.
- Calling hours align with Eastern Time business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- This role demands self-motivation to maintain productivity and positivity without micromanagement.
Compensation
- Fixed base salary of $50,000 CAD annually.
- $200 CAD bonus per qualified meeting held with no cap on earnings.
- Target on-target earnings (OTE) of $80,000 CAD per year plus a 3-month ramp-up allowance during initial training.
Daily Responsibilities
- Perform 60 to 80 outbound calls daily from curated prospect lists.
- Engage key decision-makers promptly (within 30 seconds), explain the HRIS value, and qualify prospects based on company size, HR challenges, timing, and decision-maker authority.
- Schedule meetings and provide concise briefing notes to the Account Executives.
- Maintain impeccable CRM records in Apollo and Pipedrive, documenting call outcomes, notes, and follow-up actions daily.
- Actively participate in call reviews, role-playing, and coaching sessions to meet and exceed goals for call volume, conversations, and meetings.
Candidate Profile
- Up to 24 months of sales experience, with B2B or tech sales background preferred but not mandatory—drive and attitude are paramount.
- Must reside in Ontario and be available during the Eastern Time zone business hours.
- Strong preference for verbal communication over digital outreach; resilience in handling rejection and sustaining energy through high-volume calling.
- Self-disciplined remote worker with a quiet dedicated workspace, structured daily routine, and proactive communication skills.
- Receptive to coaching and quick to implement feedback.
Unsuitable Candidates
- Those who favor LinkedIn or email outreach over cold calling.
- Candidates wanting to control the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
- Individuals who find repetitive high-volume calling draining.
- Those reliant on in-person office environments for motivation.
Additional Advantages
- Previous experience as an SDR, BDR, call center representative, or inside sales role.
- Familiarity with Pipedrive, Apollo CRM, or comparable tools.
- Interest or background in Human Resources.
- Demonstrated success working independently in remote settings.
Employee Benefits and Perks
- Competitive compensation with base salary plus uncapped meeting bonuses and ramp-up allowances.
- Fully remote work setup within Ontario with a standard 37.5-hour workweek and furnished home office equipment.
- Group insurance with 50% employer contribution, Health Spending Account, RRSP, and DPSP retirement plans.
- Flexible vacation policy, sick leave provisions, and continuous professional development opportunities.
- Dynamic, energetic startup culture with direct pathways to promotion into AE roles and periodic in-person team events in Quebec.
