Regional Human Resources Director

About the Role

The Human Resources Director will deliver strategic and operational HR leadership across multiple Nexstar sites, steering key programs including performance management, organizational growth, employee and labor relations, succession planning, and policy interpretation. This pivotal position requires a proactive HR professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-changing environment, managing around 1,800 union and non-union employees.

The role presents an opportunity to join a diverse and skilled team, collaborating with Nexstar's business divisions, a leading media industry company. The Director will exercise top-level responsibility, leveraging HR expertise to align with and reinforce Nexstar's business strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide visionary HR leadership that aligns workforce strategies with corporate goals across designated Nexstar locations.
• Lead HR planning, coaching, employee development, compliance, and performance oversight for both unionized and non-unionized employees.
• Act as a trusted adviser and mentor to senior leadership and management teams.
• Apply, interpret, and maintain consistent HR policies, procedures, and practices to support the mission, values, and strategic vision.
• Collaborate with Labor & Employment Counsel to effectively handle employee and labor relations issues including investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievance proceedings.
• Identify organizational training needs and contribute to the creation and execution of leadership and employee training initiatives.
• Oversee HR operations, regional workflows, and coordinate cross-functional strategic projects.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Required Expertise and Background

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or a related discipline; a master's or advanced degree in HR management or business administration is preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including oversight of multiple locations.
• Proven track record supporting managers within complex and rapid-paced environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills enabling collaborative relationships with client management teams.
• Proficient communication and presentation abilities to advocate HR policies and company processes.
• Experience working within a unionized environment is advantageous.
• Ability to conduct research, synthesize information, develop insights, and communicate clear recommendations.
• Excellent organizational capacity, facilitation skills, and innovative problem-solving aptitude.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws alongside general business standards.
• Availability for background investigation.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer required.
• Prior experience in the television or entertainment sector is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary offered ranges between $130,000 and $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits comprise medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) matching, paid vacation, and parental leave.

Location and Work Setup

This is an onsite position based near a Nexstar Broadcast station located in the Northeastern region of the United States, operating under a hybrid working model.
