About the Role

Orion Mining Inc is looking for a seasoned QA/QC Engineer to contribute to major Oil & Gas EPC projects located in Doha, Qatar. The projects cover various stages including engineering, procurement, construction, inspection, testing, and final handover. This contract position involves being the quality assurance focal point, ensuring strict adherence to quality management systems, project specifications, international standards, and client stipulations across the entire project timeline.

This role provides engagement with technically demanding brownfield and greenfield projects, encompassing shutdowns, offshore modifications, valve refurbishments, and source inspection assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities through engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and handover stages.
Review, authorize, and validate QA/QC documentation such as Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), welding and NDT procedures, and other quality deliverables.
Coordinate and supervise site inspections, workshop audits, vendor surveillance, and third-party inspection operations.
Handle Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), implement corrective measures, and ensure proper closure.
Support procurement-related quality assessments, including material approvals, technical bid evaluations, and criticality evaluations.
Conduct quality audits, assessments, and appraisal of contractor performances.
Direct punch list closures, mechanical acceptance processes, and oversee pre-commissioning quality activities.
Track and report project quality metrics regularly to senior management.
Ensure project compliance with international codes, standards, and company quality policies.

Qualifications and Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent.
Non-Destructive Testing Level II certifications in Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT) are mandatory.
ISO 9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor certification.
Preferred valid offshore certifications including BOSIET/TBOSIET, H₂S training, Breathing Apparatus (BA), and Offshore Medical.

Experience

At least 10 years of Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience within the Oil & Gas sector.
Extensive experience supporting offshore brownfield and greenfield EPC projects.
Demonstrated expertise with Motor Operated Valves (MOV), Shutdown Valves (SDV), Double Block & Bleed Valves (DBB), and source inspection programs.
Experience coordinating manufacturing, testing, and inspection activities.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary QA/QC inspection teams.
Comprehensive knowledge in welding, coating, NDT, mechanical inspections, and procurement quality processes.
