Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Overview

We are seeking qualified Band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) passionate about making a significant impact in people’s mental health. Successful candidates will be permanently assigned to one of six PWP localities: Newbury Hospital, Wokingham Hospital, Erlegh House (Reading), Upton Hospital (Slough), London House (Bracknell), or Foundation House (WAM).

Role and Responsibilities

As a PWP, you will be instrumental in enhancing access to evidence-based interventions for individuals facing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Your work will predominantly occur within primary care and community settings, assisting service users in strengthening resilience, improving wellbeing, and attaining meaningful recovery.

You will support a diverse population and collaborate closely with health, social care, and community service professionals, demonstrating a strong dedication to equality and inclusion. Duties include delivering high-volume, low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy-based interventions, facilitating group sessions, and supporting patients with long-term health conditions or employment challenges in conjunction with the employment support team. Opportunities to provide supervision and support to new staff are available, with yearly supervisor training offered in partnership with Reading University.

Working Pattern and Location

The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, with hybrid working arrangements combining remote and office presence. There is an expectation to work one late shift per week (12pm to 8pm), excluding Fridays.
