About the Role
The Water Asset Design team at WSP specializes in municipal water projects and non-regulated industrial/international water sectors. Working primarily with major water companies in the UK, the team delivers solutions including wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes. The projects vary widely from routine network maintenance to large-scale water projects, supported by a distributed UK team and outsourced support from India.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery of multidisciplinary water projects from initial optioneering stages through to completion and handover to clients. The position involves managing diverse infrastructure and industrial water projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery in line with client objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project proposals by defining requirements, scopes, resourcing, scheduling, and budget estimation.
- Manage the project's profit and loss including revenue, margins, overheads, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, cost control, billing, and cash flow.
- Create and maintain project management documentation such as plans, cost estimates, risk registers, schedules, and stakeholder registers to ensure objectives are met.
- Oversee project schedules, manpower allocation, budgets, forecasts, and track expenditures.
- Administer contracts effectively, including managing changes and contract compliance.
- Supervise project team members and ensure deliverables meet requirements.
- Maintain project deliverables, related information, and records accurately.
- Facilitate clear and timely communication with project teams and clients.
- Preemptively identify issues or conflicts that may impact project progress and implement mitigation measures.
- Lead and nurture multidisciplinary teams of technical staff and suppliers.
- Promote continuous improvement and document lessons learned from projects.
Candidate Profile
- Proven track record managing infrastructure projects; experience in regulated or non-regulated water industry projects is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with NEC contract administration and relevant technical skills to manage NEC contracts strongly preferred.
- Membership or accreditation with professional bodies such as APM (Association for Project Management), PMI (Project Management Institute), or MICE (Member of Institute of Civil Engineers).
- Proficiency in using project management software and tools.
- Competence in stakeholder engagement, risk management, project scheduling, and commercial oversight.
