Position Overview
Royal Mail in Harlow is seeking a Postal Delivery Driver to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves delivering letters and parcels locally, working actively outdoors, and engaging with the community as the face of the trusted postal service.
Working Hours and Location
The position is based at the Harlow Delivery Office, CM20 1AA, with a 37-hour workweek. Shifts rotate across five days out of seven, scheduled Monday through Sunday, typically between 07:00-15:00 or 12:00-20:00. Drivers must also be available Sundays from 10:00 to 18:00.
Responsibilities
- Sort mail and parcels at the delivery office efficiently.
- Deliver mail on foot and by van across local routes.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and communities.
- Work in all weather conditions, ensuring reliable service.
- Secure delivery of all route items, including sensitive materials like election documents and regulated goods according to company standards.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a full manual UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
- Ability and willingness to pass a driving assessment and operate a Royal Mail van daily.
- Physical fitness capable of walking up to 12 miles daily, climbing stairs/hills, and carrying mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and organized with resilience in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service oriented with pride in delivering excellent postal service.
- Comfortable working independently and outdoors in variable conditions.
