Role Overview
As part of our Resource Consents and Compliance Team, the Planning Technician role serves as a frontline position focused on maintaining and enhancing quality service, particularly through front counter interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial contact point for resource consent customers, assisting and resolving inquiries related to the district plan and environmental legislation.
- Ensure proper receipt and entry of consent applications following relevant laws and internal procedures.
- Manage Official Information Requests under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA).
- Evaluate building consent plans to ensure compliance with the District Plan and approved resource consents.
- Lead process improvements and maintain updated work instructions and procedures for the Resource Consents and Compliance Team.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual statistics relating to statutory timeframes.
- Support coordination efforts between the Council and Tiaki Wai.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in resource management or a related environmental discipline, or possess relevant experience within the field. Knowledge of resource consent processes and familiarity with LGOIMA, especially Official Information Requests, is beneficial. Strong communication capabilities, teamwork orientation, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential for success.
