Role overview
Kier Group is hiring a Planner to join its team in Suffolk, supporting the planning function on projects that are being prepared for tender and future award opportunities. The position is focused on building, controlling, and tracking project schedules so delivery, commercial activity, and risk controls stay aligned with contractual obligations.
This is a full-time onsite position based in Suffolk, with a 45-hour working week. Some flexibility on working hours may be available if needed. The employer has stated that sponsorship certificates cannot be provided for this role.
What you will do
- Create, update, and maintain project programmes in Primavera P6 while working to NEC contract requirements.
- Track progress against the accepted programme and prepare weekly and monthly updates, including reports, dashboards, and KPI information.
- Contribute planning input for contractual correspondence such as early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions.
- Work closely with project managers, site teams, commercial colleagues, and subcontractors to give practical planning guidance and support forecasting.
- Assist with scenario planning, risk management, and recovery planning to spot opportunities and reduce delivery issues.

- Previous experience as a planner or scheduler in construction, civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure.
- A solid understanding of NEC contract processes and requirements.
- Strong ability to use P6 planning software, with knowledge of critical path analysis, resource planning, and earned value methods.
- A degree, or equivalent qualification, in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build cooperative working relationships.
