Physical Inventory Analyst

Role overview

Dollar General is seeking a Physical Inventory Analyst to help resolve inventory-day issues, coordinate with field teams and inventory service partners, and make sure physical inventory counts are accurate and completed on time. The role also focuses on collecting data, tracking activity, and analyzing results so billing, payments, and inventory service levels are handled correctly.

Key duties

• Monitor and record cancellations, second counts, long-run credits, and any other special assignments that come up, then track completion and billing accuracy while following up until issues are closed.
• Review inventory service invoices and verify that charges are correct before payment is made.
• Act as a support contact between Dollar General field teams and inventory service vendors, and communicate inventory-day issues, questions, and reporting updates to different leadership levels.
• Prepare pre-inventory information and share it with stakeholders and business partners when needed, while making sure information exchange with vendors follows contractual requirements.
• Develop suggestions to improve physical inventory workflows, reduce process friction, and report on outcomes, while ensuring all changes align with Sarbanes-Oxley and Internal Audit standards.
• Use several internal systems to work with large data sets and perform detailed analysis of Dollar General and vendor physical inventory performance.

Knowledge and skills

• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word; familiarity with database tools is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound judgment.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to learn new processes quickly.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively to solve issues.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree is required, though 2 to 4 years of relevant experience may be accepted instead. Prior retail experience is considered a plus.

Compliance and process notes

The role requires supporting processes that remain compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley and Internal Audit expectations. It also involves meeting contractual obligations for sharing information with inventory service vendors.
