About the Role

As part of Shoppers Drug Mart’s commitment to innovative health and wellness services across Canada, this role involves managing Pharmacy operations during assigned shifts. Responsibilities include counseling customers and healthcare providers, dispensing medications, and assisting in dispensary maintenance while complying with regulatory standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge all customers entering the Pharmacy.
• Adhere strictly to federal and provincial laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
• Ensure compliance with privacy policies including confidentiality and consent management.
• Provide detailed counseling on prescription medications, over-the-counter, and behind-the-counter products.
• Deliver professional services within an expanded scope suited to your expertise.
• Maintain visibility and identification as the pharmacist to customers.
• Verify accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the patients' care network for optimum customer service.
• Maintain all legally required records according to legislation, standards, and company policy.
• Control dispensary access managing inventory and protecting patient confidentiality.
• Manage daily workflow queues effectively.
• Regularly inspect ‘will call’ bins following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Check stock regularly to identify expired products and oversee medication orders and stock levels.
• Ensure full compliance with Controlled Drugs and Substances Act including required documentation and regulatory reporting.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional pharmacy environments including counseling areas and workstations.
• Engage in relevant financial reporting and respond promptly to store communications.
• File incident reports regarding any medication or privacy events involving customers or staff.

• Proficient with personal computing and knowledgeable in pharmacy management systems.

• Willingness to complete mandatory and elective training for continuous professional development.

Additional Information

• Employment type: Full-time, Regular position.
• Compensation range: $45.90 to $59.40 hourly, dependent on experience and location.
