About the Role

TekWissen, a global workforce management company headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, partners with a health and wellness organization based in Pittsburgh that manages health insurance plans across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia. This opportunity is for a Payroll Specialist on a temporary 8-month contract, fully remote, offering hourly pay between $28.57 and $32.14.

Key Responsibilities

Process payroll accurately and on schedule for employees organization-wide adhering to company policies.
Review and validate employee timekeeping records to ensure correct payroll computations and compliance.
Manage payroll activities for employees on leave of absence with proper documentation and pay processing.
Conduct payroll audits and reconciliations to detect and resolve issues, guaranteeing accurate employee payments.
Maintain and update payroll and personnel records within HRIS and payroll systems.
Address employee payroll queries with professional and timely customer service.
Support payroll recordkeeping and ensure compliance while protecting confidential employee information.
Work alongside HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to facilitate payroll operations and resolve processing challenges.
Contribute to ongoing process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Between one and three years of relevant payroll experience.
Minimum one year experience using Workday and UKG systems.
Strong data entry skills.
Experience performing payroll audits and reconciliations.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
Customer service experience dealing effectively with employee inquiries.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
Enthusiasm for learning new skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two to three years or more experience with Workday and UKG.
Experience handling payroll for multiple states.
Relevant payroll certifications.
Workday system certification.

Compensation and Terms

This role is a temporary assignment lasting eight months, offered on a remote basis with hourly pay ranging from $28.57 to $32.14. TekWissen values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
