Role Overview
Novamed is hiring a Patient Service Representative to support front-office and patient-facing administrative operations in a medical setting. The role is well suited to candidates who already have experience with scheduling, insurance verification, and patient registration.
Key Duties
- Record charges and process payments received directly at the counter.
- Verify insurance coverage and confirm patient eligibility.
- Handle insurance pre-authorizations and pre-certifications when needed.
- Guide patients and their families on insurance and payment matters before surgery.
- Collect complete and accurate demographic, insurance, and eligibility details and update them in the billing system promptly.
- Register patients in the system and maintain their records.
- Gather, review, and update patient insurance information.
- Accept co-pays, deductibles, and other amounts due at the time of service.
- Apply approved account adjustments to patient files.
- Reconcile receipts, balance daily batches, and prepare audit documentation.
Required Background
The employer prefers applicants who have experience in scheduling, insurance verification, and registration. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a college degree is considered an advantage. Candidates should also have at least two years of front-office experience in a healthcare environment.
