About Oats Overnight
Oats Overnight is building a large-scale consumer packaged goods brand with a focus on high-protein, drinkable oatmeal. Since 2016, the company has grown to serve more than one million customers through direct-to-consumer channels and is now expanding with major retail and club partners across the country. It operates with a vertically integrated model, handling development, manufacturing, and fulfillment internally. That setup gives the team direct access to customers and the ability to bring feedback into research and development early. The company is at a major growth stage, expanding across channels and introducing new products to win more market share. Employees receive equity because the business is being built for the long term.
Role Overview
Oats Overnight is looking for a designer to support a large packaging redesign effort and bring strong creative thinking to future brand work. The position sits at the center of the brand system and the consumer-facing output seen in stores, online, and across marketing channels. The company wants someone who can use AI tools to create food photography and other visual assets for packaging and digital use. The role covers end-to-end packaging work for the core product line and the Flavor in Development program, which launches new SKUs every month, plus original creative work that helps extend the brand into new categories. In addition to packaging, the role also contributes to retail displays, digital assets, and marketing creative. The team is small and the responsibility is broad, with strong growth opportunities for a designer who can own their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn brand guidelines into packaging designs across all flavors, limited releases, and new product launches, managing the process from early concepts through final production files, including dielines, file setup, color control, and printer coordination.
- Use AI image-generation tools to develop, refine, and create visual assets such as food photography for packaging exploration, marketing, and campaign ideation.
- Own packaging development for the monthly Flavor in Development program, producing concepts and final files for each new SKU.
- Create brand-forward concepts that help the company move into new flavor and category spaces beyond overnight oats.
- Build and maintain digital packaging renders for the company website, Amazon, and other retail marketplace pages.
- Develop retail displays, shippers, and signage that are visually strong, production-ready, and compliant with specifications, including 3D renderings.
- Design creative assets for brand stores, product detail pages, product listing pages, enhanced content, and broader marketing campaigns.
- Partner with the creative team on photoshoot planning, coordination, and art direction for packaging and marketing content.
- Handle any other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of graphic design experience, with strong work in packaging and/or brand identity; experience in CPG, food and beverage, beauty, or supplements is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related discipline is preferred.
- A portfolio that demonstrates both conceptual thinking and polished execution, including shelf impact, brand systems, and work that reached production.
- Strong command of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, which are required; InDesign is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of print production, including file preparation, color management, dielines, and communication with vendors.
- Experience using Asana in digital design workflows.
- Helpful experience with KeyShot, Cinema 4D, or After Effects for 3D rendering and motion work.
- Strong sense for typography, layout, and color, with the ability to spot when design elements are not working.
- Comfort working quickly across multiple projects without sacrificing quality or detail.
- Proactive communication style, including early issue-flagging, idea-sharing, and reliable follow-through.
