Job Overview

Postmedia Distribution seeks diligent and adaptable individuals to join the growing team as Package Handlers at their Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location. This full-time permanent role supports the processing and distribution of inbound parcels.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up sorting stations by arranging racks, bags, and cages for inbound parcels.
• Ensure accurate labeling with the correct hub and sort codes on all items.
• Scan, organize, and securely place parcels in appropriately labeled bags and cages.
• Confirm compatibility of sort codes with designated containers to prevent sorting errors.
• Use company-provided equipment correctly and responsibly.
• Identify and report sorting or package discrepancies to administrative staff.
• Bag and cage sorted shipments and prepare freight for carrier pickup.
• Assist as needed in loading and unloading trucks.
• Maintain cleanliness within the facility.
• Notify team leads about supply needs, equipment damages, or operational delays.
• Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies to ensure a safe workplace for all employees.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable means of transportation to the workplace.
• Basic written and verbal English communication skills.
• Previous warehouse experience is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Physical capability to lift, push, or pull weights up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Availability to work on weekdays and/or weekends.
• Ability to work shifts lasting up to 12 hours.

Compensation and Additional Information

Compensation depends on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role, and location, with a base wage of $18 per hour.
