Job Summary
The role of Operating Room Attendant/Assistant is essential to ensuring a smooth surgical experience by preparing operating rooms, maintaining equipment readiness, supporting clinical teams, and aiding patients throughout the surgical process. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals is key to contributing to procedure safety, quality of care, and patient comfort.
Main Duties
- Prepare operating rooms based on surgical schedules by arranging necessary equipment, furniture, and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Support surgical teams by handling, transporting, setting up, and dismantling specialized operating room equipment efficiently before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist patients professionally through reception, safe transfer, proper positioning, and ensuring their comfort and dignity throughout the pre- and post-operative stages.
- Manage inventory by monitoring supplies, checking expiration dates, ensuring conformity, and tracking medical devices systematically.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols, including aseptic standards and cleaning procedures between uses.
- Engage actively in team collaboration, meetings, audits, and continuous education to enhance operational and clinical excellence.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (DES) required; additional health-related training or operating room technical assistance training is advantageous.
- Mandatory certification in Safe Patient Handling (PDSB).
- Experience working in operating rooms, intensive care, or specialized clinical settings; prior private surgical environment experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control and ability to manage medical instruments.
- Competent in safe patient transfer and positioning within a fast-moving healthcare environment prioritizing quality and safety.

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage ranging from $27 to $32.
- Signing bonus and retention bonus after one year.

Workplace Information
