Role overview

This position sits within Deloitte’s Human Resource Strategy & Transformation practice and focuses on delivering Workday HCM work across a range of industries. The role calls for strong functional expertise in Workday, with specialisation in at least two HCM modules such as Core HCM, Recruitment, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent & Performance, Security, or Learning.

Key responsibilities

• Guide clients on Workday HCM functional and technical capabilities, including solution direction and architecture.
• Lead discovery workshops, capture current and future-state processes, and assess gaps against business needs.
• Collect requirements from stakeholders and translate them into practical outcomes.
• Use Workday expertise to shape solution design, system configuration, and technical documentation alongside development teams.
• Validate solutions through testing and assess whether proposed approaches are suitable for the business.
• Support application teams with post-go-live service issues and enhancement requests.
• Build strong working relationships and share knowledge with colleagues, clients, and broader networks.
• Recommend process improvements, revised methods, and changes to role design where needed.
• Work closely and regularly with client subject matter experts.
• Take part in practice growth, delivery improvement, and innovation initiatives.
• Contribute to pre-sales, bid responses, RFPs, and other business development activity.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing client engagements and support sales growth.

Required experience and qualifications

• At least 6 years of Workday HCM experience, including solution architecture, and more than two end-to-end implementations from design through deployment.
• Certification and hands-on experience in at least two Workday HCM modules from the listed areas.
• Strong understanding of HCM processes, best practice, and the effect of legislation, preferably in New Zealand but this is not mandatory.
• Solid business analysis capability with attention to detail for specifications, documentation, standardisation, and operational efficiency.
• Clear, inclusive communication style that supports change and builds trust across all levels.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across onshore and offshore locations.
• Demonstrated business development experience, including relationship building and RFP response work.
