Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned professional to join as Manager, Model Validation. This role involves crafting validation strategies for independent reviews, performing assessments of model components as per the Global Model Risk Policy, and ensuring models' conceptual soundness and data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Develop validation delivery strategies and guide less experienced reviewers during independent validations of models.
- Perform evaluations of model inputs, computations, reporting outputs, and overall conceptual validity against intended purposes.
- Assess the completeness and relevance of data, qualitative judgments, documentation, and model implementation.
- Engage constructively with model developers and business owners, supported by senior colleagues.
- Oversee validation activities concerning remediation efforts completed by the first line of defense to verify issue resolution.
- Support effective management of model risk within a large, complex banking group during significant transformation phases.
Requirements
- Familiarity with risk models, performance metrics, risks, and related challenges.
- Understanding of model governance and internal procedures is beneficial.
- Commitment to staying informed about industry best practices, academic research, and evolving regulatory standards in model risk management.
- Academic background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong expertise in statistical modeling and sophisticated quantitative methods.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, SAS, R, or C++ and quantitative analysis tools.
