Role Overview

This position involves overseeing the school library's operations, ensuring it remains well-organized, accessible, and inviting for students and staff. The librarian will develop and manage the collection to align with curriculum needs and support learning across all age groups.

Key Duties

• Organizing, cataloguing, labeling, and maintaining both physical and digital library materials.
• Tracking book lending activities and maintaining accurate records of resource usage.
• Assisting students in selecting books and resources suited to their interests and academic levels.
• Encouraging a culture of reading through various promotional activities and organized programs.
• Conducting library orientations and instructing students on effective utilization of resources.
• Collaborating with educators to support curriculum-related learning needs and providing relevant academic materials.
• Coordinating events like book fairs, storytelling sessions, and author visits to enrich the reading experience.
• Maintaining the condition of library materials, arranging for repairs or replacements as needed.
• Ensuring the library environment is safe, inclusive, quiet, and conducive to study.
• Managing library technology including digital databases and online research tools.
• Enforcing library rules and monitoring student behavior within the library premises.
• Preparing comprehensive reports on library usage, inventory, borrowing trends, and engagement levels.
• Keeping the library inventory current and updated.
• Staying abreast of educational materials, children's literature, and advances in library services.
• Supporting school-wide literacy and research initiatives.
• Aligning library policies with school standards and safeguarding regulations.
• Performing additional library duties as required by school management.
