Role Overview
The Kitchen Technician will join the Engineering team at FAENA The Red Sea and take ownership of the upkeep, repair, and servicing of all commercial kitchen equipment. The role is essential to keeping the resort’s culinary operations safe, efficient, and continuously running. Close coordination with Engineering, Culinary, and Food & Beverage teams is central to maintaining operational reliability and compliance with hygiene, safety, and food safety expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment to reduce downtime.
- Identify issues and repair equipment used for cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing, and food preparation.
- Service and maintain ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, combi ovens, refrigeration units, ice machines, and warewashing systems.
- Check kitchen exhaust setups, fans, and grease filtration systems to keep them operating correctly.
- Investigate and resolve electrical, mechanical, gas, and refrigeration faults.
- Support the setup, testing, and commissioning of newly installed kitchen equipment.
- Act quickly when equipment breaks down to limit disruption to kitchen operations.
- Liaise with outside service providers and equipment manufacturers when specialist support is needed.
- Track gas systems, safety controls, and appliance performance to ensure safe use.
- Follow HACCP, health and safety, fire safety, and internal engineering standards.
- Record maintenance work, service orders, and equipment history in the CMMS platform.
- Help oversee spare parts stock and maintenance consumables.
- Work with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage teams to plan and coordinate maintenance activity.
- Keep the work area tidy, safe, and well organised.
- Provide support for banquets, special functions, and other operational needs when required.
Requirements
- Prior experience working as a Kitchen Technician or in a comparable engineering role in a hotel, resort, or commercial kitchen setting.
- Solid understanding of commercial kitchen machinery, refrigeration, gas systems, and electrical fault finding.
- Experience working with preventive maintenance processes and CMMS tools.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and health and safety requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Effective communication and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Comfort working independently and staying effective under pressure.
- Trade certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a related field is preferred.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
- Commitment to high-quality service in a luxury hospitality environment.
Working Conditions
This is an onsite, full-time position in Saudi Arabia. The role may require shift work, including weekends and public holidays, based on operational needs.
