Role Overview
As a Kennel Assistant, you will be the primary caregiver for pets in boarding and daycare, ensuring their well-being through proper feeding, exercise, and attention. Monitoring animal health closely, you will alert the medical team to any concerns you observe. Maintaining cleanliness and order of the kennel environment and grounds is another key duty, along with inventory management of food and cleaning supplies to facilitate smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized care to boarding and daycare animals, attending to their dietary, exercise, and safety needs.
- Observe and report any unusual behavioral or health issues to veterinary professionals promptly.
- Keep the kennel areas, runs, and outside grounds clean and sanitary at all times.
- Manage inventory for feeds and cleaning materials and collaborate with team members to complete operational tasks.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and care.
- Dependability and enthusiasm to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Physical ability to lift over 50 pounds and perform active tasks required by the position.
- Prior experience as a kennel assistant is favored.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
