HSE Technician

Job Overview

The HSE Technician will ensure that the organization maintains a hazard-free and safe working environment while strictly adhering to all applicable Health, Safety, and Environment legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement fire prevention measures and safeguard the environment.
• Assess and ensure appropriate usage and upkeep of personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the facility.
• Promote prevention of workplace incidents by efficiently managing occupational health and safety hazards.
• Enforce adherence to legal regulations and the company's HSE policies and procedures.
• Engage in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and supervise worksite practices for safety compliance.
• Lead cultural transformation towards safer work habits.
• Support the integration of international standards such as ISO (QMS, FSMS, FSSC, OHSAS, EMS) into safety practices.
• Keep comprehensive HSE records and documentation up to date.
• Design and execute fire prevention and safety awareness initiatives; conduct staff training on emergency response protocols.
• Monitor and uphold HSE regulations along with safe operational procedures.
• Take part in investigating incidents and conducting Root Cause Analysis to identify underlying issues.
• Record and communicate details of workplace accidents and incidents.
• Carry out HSE inspections and develop plans for corrective actions if necessary.
• Foster constructive and proactive relationships with management, employees, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current and properly disseminated.
• Perform additional duties related to the role as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment laws and best practices.
• Holder of NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent certification (such as NSPON Level 1, 2, or 3).
• Thorough understanding of regulations from relevant fire prevention and protection agencies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Three to five years of practical experience in HSE roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer skills.
• Possession of necessary valid HSE competency certificates.
