Job description

Position Overview

As the Housing Support Manager based in Rotorua, you will engage closely with a dedicated group of customers and their whānau to nurture enduring relationships that foster housing stability and overall wellbeing. This role involves direct customer visits at their Kāinga Ora homes and collaboration with key stakeholders to tailor ongoing support, including managing rent arrears and debt recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to customers and their families to promote stable housing and social wellbeing.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful, lasting community relationships that positively impact lives.
  • Address and manage situations involving disruptive behaviour with sensitivity and skill.
  • Conduct home visits and attend stakeholder meetings as needed, involving regional travel.
  • Handle rent arrears and debt collection to support tenancy sustainability.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrates strong relationship-building capabilities across diverse community backgrounds.
  • Skilled at de-escalating emotionally charged situations and resolving complex client challenges.
  • Comfortable and proficient in managing tenancy arrears and debt recovery processes.
  • Technologically adept, capable of learning new systems swiftly.
  • Experience in tenancy, emergency, or social housing sectors is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act is beneficial.
  • Highly committed to supporting customers with challenging housing and wellbeing needs.
  • Culturally sensitive approach, especially in relation to Māori and Pasifika communities.
  • Must possess a current, full, clean New Zealand driver’s license; use of a pool vehicle will be provided.
