About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Head of Education Data Strategy to lead our Education Data Team. This leadership position involves ensuring precision, clarity, and analytical excellence in our education rankings such as Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools, Best Online Colleges, Best High Schools, and Best Global Universities. You will guide the team in analysis, methodology development, and timely publication of rankings, as well as in launching new ranking categories.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Education Data Team to meet departmental objectives.
- Manage the editorial data workflow, incorporating survey design, data gathering, methodology innovation, dataset production, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Guarantee punctual and accurate release of all education-related rankings and support communications with external stakeholders including academic leaders, industry experts, and institutions.
- Collaborate with the General Manager of Education to align operational goals with business objectives while safeguarding editorial independence.
- Set strategic direction for education data initiatives across the team and organization.
- Evaluate potential new ranking initiatives by analyzing data availability, developing surveys, and coordinating cross-functional collaboration.
- Stay informed on education sector trends across varying educational fields.
- Respond to inquiries and maintain communication with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with subject matter experts like deans, presidents, government officials, associations, and accreditation representatives.
- Serve as a spokesperson at industry forums and media engagements concerning rankings.
- Mentor and develop team members to become subject matter experts in education data.
- Continuously update executive leadership on relevant education data issues.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in data analytics and/or editorial roles, preferably within digital media.
- A minimum of 5 years managing teams of analysts and editors.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Highly detail-focused, organized, and adept at multitasking under tight deadlines.
- Strong adaptability to shifts in the media landscape and consumer demands.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming with Stata.
- Experience with additional analytical or data visualization tools, especially Python or AI-driven analytics.
- Background or expertise in K-12 or higher education data is advantageous but not mandatory.
