About the Role
IAG is one of the largest general insurance organisations across Australia and New Zealand, focused on helping people protect what matters and making insurance easier to access. This position is part of the BAU Production Support team, where the main priority is to keep production systems stable, dependable, and performing well.
In this Guidewire Developer position, you will contribute to the analysis, design, development, and rollout of improvements across Guidewire environments. The role calls for clean and maintainable coding practices, support for agile delivery, and close partnership with senior engineers and solution architects to deliver strong technical outcomes.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day reliability of Guidewire systems through monitoring, incident handling, and root cause analysis to maintain strong availability and performance in production.
- Manage and improve Guidewire configuration work, including business rules, integrations, APIs, and environment settings, while also looking for ways to reduce manual effort through automation.
- Review and resolve defects in both production and non-production environments, spotting repeat issues and suggesting improvements that strengthen stability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Partner with business users, system owners, and delivery teams to clarify needs, offer technical advice, and ensure solutions align with business goals.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting Guidewire platforms such as PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter in a production or support setting.
- Solid knowledge of application support practices, incident handling, and root cause analysis.
- Practical experience with Guidewire configuration, including business rules, product model work, integrations, and APIs.
- Working understanding of SDLC, Agile ways of working, and continuous delivery practices.
- Ability to diagnose complex issues, troubleshoot effectively, and implement durable fixes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience improving processes and introducing automation to boost operational efficiency.
