Role overview
ABM UK is looking for a polished and dependable Guest Services Host for a busy, high-energy setting at The Corn Exchange in Manchester. The role is focused on creating an excellent first impression for every visitor by offering a welcoming arrival, helpful guidance, and consistently attentive service.
Working pattern and pay
The position follows a 4 on, 4 off rota with 12-hour shifts, averaging 42 hours each week. The pay is described as competitive.
Key duties
- Receive arriving and departing guests in a friendly, professional manner, using eye contact and a genuine smile, and where possible escort them to their destination.
- Share accurate information about the local area, nearby attractions, directions, and on-site facilities.
- Handle incoming telephone calls and provide clear, appropriate assistance.
- Manage the cash float responsibly.
- Develop strong working relationships with guests, colleagues, and brand partners, while staying ahead of their needs whenever possible.
- Help protect the safety and welfare of guests and co-workers by staying familiar with emergency and crisis procedures.
- Keep personal hygiene and professional appearance to the required standard at all times.
- Support smooth communication and cooperation between departments to improve guest satisfaction.
- Meet and maintain all required KPI targets.
- Follow GDPR and other data protection rules carefully.
Skills and experience needed
The ideal candidate should already have experience in a customer-facing environment and be confident delivering service that goes beyond expectations. Strong telephone manners, the ability to manage complaints, and clear written and spoken English are important. The role also calls for calm decision-making in a busy environment, flexibility to work any time of day including weekends, event days, and bank holidays, and comfort with change and new ways of working. Good interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work well with a wide range of people.
