Job description

Position Overview

Western Health is offering a full-time ongoing position for an experienced Freedom of Information (FOI) Clerk based in Williamstown. The role involves accurately and efficiently processing FOI requests in line with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic), guidelines from the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC), and internal protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle FOI requests promptly and ensure compliance with statutory time limits.
  • Collaborate effectively with FOI team members and stakeholders to maintain high standards of FOI management.
  • Maintain thorough and precise file management, reporting, and record keeping for FOI services.
  • Support investigation of complaints and queries related to FOI requests, including interactions with OVIC, the Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC), and internal sources.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in roles related to public health records.
  • Strong understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) and hands-on experience with FOI statutory procedures and OVIC's role.
  • Excellent attention to detail for managing records.
  • Effective communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Capability or aptitude to quickly learn hospital computer systems and proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
