Fleet Officer

About the Role

Dangote Industries Limited seeks a Fleet Officer to assist the Fleet Manager in supervising the operations and administration of designated trucks. This role is crucial for analyzing fleet data to enhance overall performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily fleet activities, coordinating vehicles, drivers, and maintenance tasks.
• Carry out regular truck inspections ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards.
• Manage dispatch of loaded trucks by authorizing necessary fuel allocations and ensuring all dispatch paperwork is completed prior to departure.
• Verify returned trucks from delivery points, confirming accurate delivery quantities of goods.
• Handle return documentation properly, secure waybill copies for filing, and manage originals for payment processing.
• Provide daily reports on route operations including dispatches, returns, breakdowns, accidents, and other related events to the Fleet Manager.
• Inspect trucks upon return and before next dispatch to detect any driver-related misuse or damage.
• Ensure the truck logbook is consistently updated with essential details.
• Verify that drivers maintain the approved minimum fuel reserves in the tanks.
• Report on trip performance regularly—daily, weekly, and monthly—for assigned routes.
• Monitor drivers’ adherence to established turnaround times.
• Coordinate effectively with the Tracking Unit to keep precise tracking of all trucks.
• Ensure trucks operate efficiently, strictly following authorized routes.

Education and Experience

Applicants should hold a First Degree or HND in Business Administration, Transport Management, Social Science or related fields with at least two years of relevant experience.

Skills and Competencies

• Understanding of fleet management concepts and principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to manage conflicts and mediate differing viewpoints.
• Familiarity with fleet management software and related technologies.
