Finance Officer

Role Summary

Join Reason Group as a Finance Officer and take a pivotal role overseeing comprehensive finance operations within a fast-paced consulting and project-oriented environment. This position is suited for candidates with 3 to 4 years of experience who excel at managing multiple financial tasks, have strong numerical skills, and can maintain strict attention to detail.

Key Duties

• Lead month-end closing activities including work-in-progress reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet reviews, and preparation of management financial statements such as profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Deliver financial analyses to aid strategic business decisions and enhance planning.
• Collaborate with team leaders to develop and update annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts, ensuring assumptions align with evolving market conditions.
• Monitor cash flows closely to foresee risks and support sound financial strategy.
• Oversee full accounts payable and receivable cycles, managing everything from invoice processing and payments to client billing and collections, using systems like ProSpend, Xero, and Employment Hero.
• Manage payroll processes, including accurate salary calculations, leave, superannuation, PAYG withholding, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations like BAS and payroll taxes.
• Assist with annual tax filings including FBT and coordinate year-end income tax returns alongside external tax specialists.
• Support project teams by tracking budgets, comparing actuals to forecasts, and validating time sheets for accurate project cost allocation.
• Engage regularly with external partners such as accountants, vendors, tax authorities, and software service providers.
• Drive ongoing process improvements by identifying automation opportunities, including leveraging AI tools where applicable.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3-4 years’ Australian finance experience, ideally within consultancy or project-based settings.
• Demonstrated ability managing end-to-end financial functions, including reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Proficiency with financial software systems (Xero preferred) and openness to learning ProSpend and Employment Hero.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and report development.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities fostering effective internal and external relationships.
• Adept at prioritizing in a dynamic, deadline-driven workplace.
• A proactive and self-driven personality aiming to improve processes and embrace new technologies such as AI.

Additional Information
