Role Overview

This field-based position reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for coordinating site activities, tracking project progress, and keeping communication flowing between the field team and project leadership. The role suits someone who performs well in active construction settings and can help support hydro utility substation infrastructure projects.

Key Duties

• Oversee day-to-day activities at the jobsite and act as the main point of contact for field crews, project management, and client representatives.
• Keep an eye on progress versus the plan and promptly flag updates, delays, or concerns to the Project Manager.
• Carry out routine site checks to confirm work quality, safety compliance, and alignment with project requirements.
• Monitor deliveries of materials, availability of equipment, and on-site resource allocation.
• Support coordination among subcontractors, suppliers, and the project team so work moves forward without avoidable delays.
• Record field notes, site photos, and daily activity reports for project documentation.
• Confirm that work complies with utility standards, regulatory obligations, and quality expectations.
• Assist with change management by capturing site conditions and the impact of changes.
• Work with safety personnel to ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Join site meetings, progress discussions, and coordination sessions with stakeholders.
• Help resolve field issues and carry out corrective actions under the direction of the Project Manager.
• Support commissioning and closeout tasks, including punch lists and final inspections.
• Future employment may involve travel.

Additional Information

This is a field-based role, and the first project will be located in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.

The position is safety-sensitive. Employment is dependent on successful pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, along with criminal and general background checks.

Schedule and Compensation

Work rotations depend on the project and client, and may change over time. For the first project, the expected rotation is 21 days on and 7 days off.

When working in the field, standard shifts are 10 hours long, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Overtime is paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and after 40 hours per week.

For out-of-town assignments, the arrangement includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA with individual accommodations, depending on the project.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in construction coordination or field supervision is needed.
• Experience in the utility sector is strongly preferred, especially with hydro or electrical substation work, wind farms, solar farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Experience on large construction projects is highly desirable.
• A valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record is mandatory.
• Must be comfortable working in active construction environments and travelling extensively across North America.
• Solid understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field operations is required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Word is an asset.
• Strong communication and people skills are needed to coordinate varied teams.
• Good problem-solving ability and the confidence to make quick decisions in fast-moving field conditions are important.
• Must be physically capable of working on construction sites in changing weather conditions.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and regulatory requirements for utility construction is required.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents is necessary.
