About the Role

This full-time Family Support Worker position is based in Karratha, Western Australia, within the Intensive Family Support / Family Care Support Services program and reports to the Coordinator Pilbara Services. The role involves working directly with carer families in their homes to deliver consistent practical and emotional support, especially after school and during evenings.

The position also includes helping carers with school runs, appointments, access to community activities and support groups, and linking families with relevant service providers. Ongoing assessment is part of the role and must be carried out in consultation with the assigned case workers.

Key Duties

  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with program stakeholders.
  • Support carers with getting children to school and attending appointments.
  • Help families connect with other service providers and appropriate community supports.
  • Identify gaps or weaknesses in support provided to children and carers.
  • Provide parenting guidance and trauma-related information to carers.
  • Encourage and strengthen connections with family, community, and cultural networks.
  • Ensure every family has a community support network and help identify suitable members for it.
  • Promote the involvement of the child’s family and significant others wherever possible.
  • Support stronger links to culture and community for families.
  • Carry out ongoing assessment in collaboration with the relevant case workers.

Selection Criteria

Pay and Allowances

The advertised remuneration is $76,376 to $81,906 per year, plus superannuation, a $5,000 remote allowance, and salary packaging benefits. A further $5,000 remote allowance is available for Pilbara employees.
