Role Overview
The Facilities Specialist is responsible for overseeing construction projects and upgrades related to production lines, office environments, and industrial improvements. This role ensures proper maintenance and repair of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, crane operations, security, and fire protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage construction and facility upgrade projects including new production lines and office spaces.
- Support the creation and distribution of blueprints, reports, and documentation related to aerospace, commercial, or industrial construction projects.
- Ensure timely maintenance, repairs, and contingency measures for systems such as lighting, doors, roofing, and security.
- Coordinate schedules and communicate building and maintenance plans to staff, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve deadlines.
- Manage scope negotiations across multiple construction and facility disciplines.
- Maintain cleanliness and order within office and factory spaces.
- Organize events for VIP guests, vendors, and internal teams.
- Assist in office relocations and recommend effective move plans.
- Work closely with purchasing to verify vendor credentials, including insurance and approval.
- Support management of campus programs such as bike and laundry services, and office supplies.
- Assist with compliance requirements including badging, ITAR, NDA, and safety training.
- Create and update RFPOs, and aid in furniture and vendor selection.
- Track purchase orders, weekly reports, and project progress.
- Engage with SpaceX end users to define scopes of work.
- Provide project implementation assistance to facilities management as needed.
Qualification Criteria
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years experience managing facilities vendors and contracts (either qualification accepted).
- At least 3 years of experience in vendor management, contract oversight, or logistics operations.
Desired Competencies
- Experience with commercial, office, or industrial facilities management.
- Understanding of space planning principles and operations.
- Proficiency with basic computer software and ERP systems for managing RFPOs and work orders.
- Capability to work collaboratively within team environments.
- Independent decision-making skills with limited data.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to interact with employees, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to interpret and understand basic floor plans.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as necessary.
- Physical capability to lift items up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to perform physical activities including standing for long durations, ladder climbing, bending, grasping, pulling, pushing, and stretching related to job duties.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range depends on level and is determined on knowledge, education, and experience.
- Level I: $80,000 to $95,000 annually
- Level II: $90,000 to $115,000 annually
The compensation package includes potential long-term incentives such as company stock, stock options, cash awards, possible discretionary bonuses, and stock purchase plans. Additional benefits encompass comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, paid vacation (3 weeks), 10 or more paid holidays annually, and sick leave in accordance with company policy.
