Role Overview
The firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Litigation File Clerk to join its Houston office. Primary Responsibilities
- Support legal assistants and attorneys by providing clerical assistance essential for advancing litigation cases.
- Manage and process documents using document storage and case management software systems.
- Prepare and electronically file litigation-related documents to various courts.
- Draft and send various outgoing correspondences.
- Communicate daily through email with legal team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Update and maintain databases including e-cabinet and custom case management platforms.
- Adhere to deadlines related to litigation workflows and processes.
- Perform additional clerical or administrative tasks as assigned.
Experience & Education Requirements
- No prior experience required; however, at least one year of office experience is preferred.
- Experience in a law office and general knowledge of litigation procedures is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and basic math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multitask efficiently, and prioritize workload under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to work independently.
- Reliability demonstrated through punctuality and dependability.
- Familiarity with standard office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Preferred qualities include critical thinking, superior computer literacy, proactive work ethic, and excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- The position mainly involves sitting at a computer for most of the workday.
- On-the-job training will be provided with performance evaluation within the first 60 days and ongoing annual reviews.
- Reporting structure includes department supervisor and litigation manager.
- Physical demands include walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, and occasional stooping or kneeling. Vision requirements entail close, peripheral, and depth perception capabilities.
- Potential travel by air or car may be necessary.
