Engineering Manager

Position Overview

The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering services including technical support, feasibility studies, and solution design. This role involves supervising staff engaged in project engineering, development service programs, engineering project management for major capital initiatives, and facility upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering process to define project scopes, prepare precise cost estimates aligned with scopes, and calculate energy savings estimates.
• Conduct design reviews and offer technical feedback for multidisciplinary projects.
• Support business development, estimating, and onsite engineering teams with expert technical guidance.
• Develop and prioritize planning processes to align multi-disciplinary resources and optimize project delivery.
• Regularly report engineering activity metrics and performance indicators to the Senior Management team.
• Develop and execute measurement and verification plans for assigned projects, collaborating with stakeholders to track fulfillment of obligations.
• Manage coordination with third-party design consultants for outsourced engineering and design tasks.
• Identify and implement the most cost-effective and optimized engineering solutions benefiting KAUST.
• Maintain thorough project documentation in cooperation with internal teams and external consultants.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables requirements with design consultants, project teams, and stakeholders.
• Set quality and reliability standards based on industry benchmarks and customer needs; define metrics for performance evaluation.
• Enhance KAUST Engineering standards to ensure safe, value-based, and sustainable project delivery.
• Apply problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and devise solution strategies.
• Manage and direct engineering team activities to keep projects on track and on schedule.
• Eliminate technical obstacles to support continuous improvement of team processes.
• Conduct regular performance appraisals and manage attendance, leave, and disciplinary actions per policy.
• Develop and control cost estimates for projects under management.
• Contribute to the refinement of PDE&C procedures and comply with KAUST operational guidelines.
• Foster transparent and trustworthy relationships with stakeholders by focusing on customer-centric work principles.

Required Competencies

• Deep knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and design processes.
• Proven experience in providing engineering support for university campuses or similar environments.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English proficiency.
• Strong customer orientation and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Over 6 years of experience in engineering design or related industries.
