Job Overview
Designer Group is seeking a seasoned Electrical Project Manager to join their Dublin operations team, responsible for managing a significant live data centre project for a leading global technology client. This role requires hands-on site management and substantial experience in electrical project management within M&E contracting, industrial, pharmaceutical, mission-critical, or large commercial settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of electrical works on a major data centre located in Dublin.
- Direct site teams, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and specialized suppliers effectively.
- Ensure project milestones are met by proactively managing the programme and identifying risks early.
- Collaborate closely with the Quantity Surveyor to control costs, handle variations, and manage commercial performance and reporting.
- Support procurement activities including planning, technical submittals, RFIs, material approvals, and coordination with subcontractors.
- Review and address design documents in partnership with engineering teams to resolve buildability, coordination, and installation challenges.
- Lead and participate in meetings involving internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
- Monitor the use of labor, materials, plant, and resources to guarantee efficient project progress.
- Ensure completion aligns with quality standards, commissioning protocols, and handover requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Uphold Designer Group’s standards for health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance continuously.
Candidate Requirements
- At least five years’ experience managing electrical projects, preferably with M&E or specialist electrical contractors.
- Demonstrated success in overseeing large-scale electrical projects from construction to commissioning and handover.
- Deep knowledge of electrical building services, site installation, technical coordination, and project management.
- Experience managing diverse project teams including subcontractors, supervisors, and engineers.
- Competency in programme management, procurement, RFIs, technical submittals, and progress reporting.
- Commercially savvy with experience collaborating with quantity surveying and commercial departments.
- Well versed in health and safety standards pertinent to live construction environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, delivery-focused site environment with high attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Authorization to live and work in Ireland without the need for sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, semiconductor, life sciences, or high-value commercial projects.
- Background working on active client sites with stringent safety, access, quality, and scheduling requirements.
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning, handover, and system completion procedures.
- Experience with BIM, coordinated service drawings, technical submittals, and design reviews.
- Relevant electrical trade experience, engineering or construction management qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience working in principal contractor, M&E contractor, or major subcontractor roles.
