About the Role and Company
The Dive Center First Mate is a crucial on-site operational position based in Umluj, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, within Red Sea Global's Sports and Entertainment division, specifically under Galaxea which manages water sports experiences. This role supports the Dive Center Manager and Boat Captain by ensuring safe, efficient, and exceptional diving excursions and marine tourism activities. Red Sea Sports & Entertainment strives to deliver sustainable, high-quality adventure and leisure services aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 focused on regenerative tourism and environmental care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Boat Captain in daily diving-related boat excursions, maintaining safety and professionalism at all times.
- Prepare boats for daily trips, ensuring cleanliness, operational readiness, and presentation standards are met.
- Participate in cylinder filling operations and maintain the organization and upkeep of dive equipment and the dive center.
- Coordinate with Sustainability and Special Economic Zone departments to comply with environmental and regulatory standards.
- Carry out administrative duties such as reporting and office visits as needed.
- Collaborate during the project delivery stage to ensure readiness prior to the center's opening.
- Learn and familiarize with local dive sites and environmental conditions.
- Prioritize safety in all boat and diving activities while fostering a guest-centered professional environment.
- Manage diver logistics efficiently, track equipment and boat maintenance meticulously, and maintain detailed operational records.
- Follow dive center SOPs and contribute to process documentation and reporting for operational consistency and quality.
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental protection policies to safeguard guests, staff, and equipment.
- Promote marine conservation efforts and environmental compliance.
- Suggest and support improvements for operational procedures, cost and productivity enhancements, and the incorporation of global best practices.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Solid understanding of the Al Wajh Lagoon dive sites and surrounding areas.
- Experience in hospitality and guest services, preferably catering to divers.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills related to boats and outboard motors.
- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
- Customer service oriented with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Flexible, reliable, detail-conscious, self-driven, and capable of working well under deadlines.
- Competent in working with multicultural teams and managing high-end guests professionally.
- Strong safety focus, leadership capabilities, discretion, and independent working skills.
- Interest and ability to communicate marine conservation topics to guests.
- Preferred qualifications include being a registered boat captain in Saudi Arabia, advanced mechanical skills, and additional language proficiency in Arabic.
