About the Role
The Director, Stadium Retail is a full-time, on-site role based at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. This leadership position is responsible for designing and implementing retail strategies for in-stadium operations related to the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium events, the Miami Open, and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. The role demands a proactive, creative leader capable of shaping premium retail experiences across high-volume, multi-event settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute comprehensive retail plans, oversee daily operations within stadium retail environments.
- Manage merchandise procurement, warehouse coordination, and store functions across multiple event properties including the Miami Dolphins, Miami Open Tennis, and Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
- Scout and integrate emerging trends, partnerships, and innovative ideas into the product and retail strategies.
- Track product sales, optimize inventory turnover, and control markdowns to enhance profitability.
- Maintain strong business collaborations with the NFL licensing teams and various merchandise suppliers.
- Curate and manage product assortments for the Miami Open, emphasizing collaborative and merchandising initiatives.
- Supervise all retail locations including the main store and temporary pop-up shops at major events, working closely with event teams to develop effective layouts.
- Oversee the Point-of-Sale systems to ensure efficient merchandise transactions.
- Create and manage operational processes and reporting for inventory administration, loss prevention, purchase management, and event-specific reporting.
- Partner cross-functionally with organizational units to meet overall team objectives.
- Advise on investments in new systems and major capital expenditures regarding retail operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- 7 to 10 years’ experience encompassing retail operations and merchandising management.
- Prior experience managing retail stores is essential; familiarity with brand marketing is advantageous.
- Capability and willingness to work during weekends and holidays as required.
- Experience in sports-related or licensing businesses is considered a plus.
- Proven success in boosting sales and margins within retail settings.
- Exceptional customer service aptitude.
- Strong work ethic, self-driven, goal-focused, and flexible to work extended hours when necessary.
- Effective problem-solving skills, timely identification and resolution of challenges, and development of alternative solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present numerical data persuasively.
- Professional demeanor, maintaining composure in pressured environments, accountable for personal actions.
