Overview

Lonestar Electric Supply is looking for a Director of Operations to lead the corporate operations function and manage its daily execution. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this position oversees the centralized teams and activities that support the branch network, including inventory control, operational reporting and analysis, logistics projects, process enhancement, and broader enterprise initiatives.

The role works closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations to carry out strategic priorities, build scalable operating practices, and ensure the corporate operations team delivers the resources and support needed to improve overall business performance. Responsibilities

  • Direct, coach, and develop the corporate operations team while promoting ownership, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
  • Set team priorities, workflows, performance standards, and measurable KPIs for the department.
  • Work with the Senior Vice President of Operations to shape and implement operational plans that support growth and improve results.
  • Guide the team handling inventory management, operational analytics, logistics initiatives, process improvements, systems rollouts, and enterprise support.
  • Drive large-scale operational projects, workflow improvements, and system implementations that increase efficiency and support growth.
  • Create, document, and standardize operating procedures, policies, and best practices across the organization.
  • Review operational data to spot opportunities to improve inventory control, supply chain performance, operational efficiency, and customer service.
  • Oversee inventory strategies aimed at improving turns, lowering excess and obsolete stock, and optimizing working capital.
  • Support freight planning, transportation efforts, and logistics optimization to improve service and lower costs.
  • Use ERP platforms and business intelligence tools to evaluate inventory trends, operational metrics, and business performance.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, dashboards, and recommendations for the Senior Vice President of Operations and senior leadership.
  • Assign departmental resources and set priorities to support corporate operations goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Finance, IT, Logistics, and other teams on cross-functional business efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, operating procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Stay current on industry trends, operational technology, ERP capabilities, and supply chain best practices.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, logistics, supply chain, or distribution management.
  • Prior experience leading corporate operations, supply chain, logistics, inventory management, or process improvement work in a distribution or wholesale setting is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, transportation, and operational best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, inventory software, and business intelligence tools for operational decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage organizational change, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to remain seated or stationary for about 50% of the workday.
  • Regular use of a computer and standard office equipment is required.
