About the role

Handy Finance is an Australian fintech on a mission to make borrowing and money management straightforward. The business has received Canstar’s Outstanding Value for Personal Loans award for four consecutive years and is now expanding its design capability to improve the experience across its products.

In this role, you will be responsible for the digital experiences that have the greatest impact on customers, including the website, loan application journey, and mobile app. The position sits between marketing and product, requiring close collaboration with both teams to create interfaces that are easy to understand, confident in tone, and designed to improve conversion.

You will be involved in ongoing design, prototyping, and refinement, with a strong focus on delivering an excellent user experience for both customers and partners. Familiarity with HTML and CSS is important so you can work effectively with front-end engineers and make practical updates when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the website interface, user experience, and conversion-focused improvements for handyfinance.com.au.
• Design and refine the product experience across the personal loan application flow, customer portal, and mobile app.
• Maintain and evolve the Figma design system and shared component library for web and product work.
• Use customer feedback, heatmap insights, and funnel performance data to identify design improvements that strengthen results.
• Collaborate with engineers using HTML and CSS to implement or adjust components directly when required.

What we are looking for

• A degree in digital design, UX design, or a closely related area, or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
• Between 3 and 6 years of experience in digital or product design, supported by a portfolio that includes both web and mobile/app work.
• Strong user-centred design thinking, with an understanding of how design choices influence trust and conversion in financial services.
• Advanced Figma capability, including prototyping and design system management through component libraries.
• Experience working with engineering teams, including clear design handoff, specification writing, and implementation follow-up.
• Practical HTML and CSS knowledge, with the ability to read, write, and update front-end code as needed.
• Well-developed problem-solving ability, a proactive attitude, and a collaborative team approach.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
