Role Overview

As Design Manager within the Product Management team, reporting to the Associate Principal, this position plays a critical role in orchestrating the evolution of AirTrunk's standard data centre product designs. You will work closely across teams including Customer, Solutions, Design, and Innovation, to ensure scalability, efficiency, and market alignment of product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams of subject matter experts and design engineers to manage complex projects without direct reporting lines.
• Own and continuously enhance AirTrunk's reference design products, ensuring overall consistency and technical excellence.
• Establish and enforce design standards, specifications, and technical documentation to maintain quality and innovation.
• Collaborate primarily with internal stakeholders to guide strategic product decisions, involving customers selectively for input.
• Integrate feedback from operational projects to refine product designs and foster strong communication between Product, Design, and Delivery.
• Oversee feasibility analyses, technical evaluations, and incorporate emerging technologies into designs.
• Ensure alignment across electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural disciplines to achieve optimized, cohesive design solutions.
• Guarantee all designs meet AirTrunk’s criteria for performance, cost-effectiveness, buildability, and sustainability.
• Communicate intricate technical strategies and innovations effectively to senior leadership and decision-makers.
• Demonstrate adaptability to shifting priorities and dynamic project environments.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably electrical or mechanical) or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years industry experience, including at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure sectors.
• Proven background leading or contributing significantly to major data centre projects, whether as client-side, consultancy, or contractor.
• Comprehensive understanding of multi-disciplinary building services design, including civil, structural, and architectural elements.
• Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital design platforms.
• Ideally experienced in data centre operations, hyperscale design, and cloud infrastructure within the APAC market.
• Strong adaptability and capability to excel in a fast-moving, collaborative atmosphere.
• Excellent decision-making, accountability, and leadership skills to influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Superior communication abilities suitable for presenting to customers, colleagues, and executives.
