Role Overview

The Design Engineer will play a key role in developing, enhancing, and customizing Bradken's mining equipment, particularly focusing on Crawler Systems used in electric rope shovels and hydraulic excavators. This position demands hands-on mechanical design involvement, encompassing detailed engineering tasks, problem analysis, and seeing concepts through to manufacturing and real-world application.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and revise 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and related documentation.
• Provide support in reverse engineering efforts, product enhancements, and the creation of new design concepts.
• Conduct analytical assessments, simulations, and technical validations to ensure product safety and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to guarantee constructability, supply, and support of designs.
• Participate in field assessments and product evaluations through visits to customer and manufacturing sites as necessary.
• Maintain accurate product data, specifications, and design history within the Product Lifecycle Management system.
• Offer technical expertise to internal teams regarding product function, design rationale, and manufacturability.
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, safety, and continuous improvement in engineering processes.

Working Conditions

This role predominantly involves office and workshop settings with expected travel of approximately 10–20% to various sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven background in mechanical or product design, reliability engineering, or product development.
• Experience within mining or construction equipment sectors, heavy manufacturing, or related industrial environments.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, precision drafting, and engineering analysis.
• Previous experience managing manufactured products, design revisions, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to liaise effectively with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with availability for local and regional travel.
• Spanish language skills are highly desirable; knowledge of French is considered advantageous.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with Siemens NX CAD software, ANSYS simulation tools, Siemens Teamcenter PLM, and 3D scanning technologies.
• Understanding of surface mining machinery, crawler system technologies, and relevant manufacturing processes.
• Awareness of ISO 9001 quality standards and regional mine safety regulations such as MSHA or equivalent miner hazard training.

Salary & Benefits

The position offers a salary range between 82000 and 102000 CAD per year, compliant with Ontario pay transparency laws.
