Deputy General Manager - Operations

About the Role

Albion Marine Solutions seeks a seasoned Deputy General Manager for Operations to spearhead senior leadership initiatives and steer the company's expansion worldwide. This leadership position requires substantial expertise in marine technical domains, business development, strategic account oversight, and commercial governance within engineering-focused or marine service settings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement comprehensive commercial and business growth tactics tailored to target markets and regions.
• Identify and qualify strategic, high-value projects, steering their complete commercial lifecycle including bidding, pricing, and contracts.
• Develop and maintain a sustainable sales pipeline to secure long-term revenue increases.
• Act as the principal senior commercial liaison with key clients and stakeholders, overseeing negotiations and strategic collaborations.
• Enhance client retention, repeat engagements, and framework contracts through proactive management.
• Plan and supervise all technical aspects underpinning company programs and projects.
• Contribute to the articulation of the company’s growth strategy and the development of technical solutions supporting service offerings.
• Oversee that external design activities are managed by qualified teams with clear scopes, agreed budgets, and timelines.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor technical team deliverables and progress.
• Provide senior commercial oversight for project delivery, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, budgets, and profitability goals.
• Manage commercial risks, contract variations, and maintain stringent governance of bids, contracts, and ongoing projects in partnership with engineering and project leadership.
• Lead commercial, business development, and project support teams, establishing controls and reporting systems to inform executive leadership.
• Engage fully as a senior leadership team member influencing company strategy and decisions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; a Master's or MBA is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as 1st Class Marine Engineer, Transport Canada, EGBC PEng are advantageous.
• Over 10 years of senior experience in commercial management, business development, or executive account leadership, especially within engineering services, marine, offshore, or complex technical project environments.
• Proven track record of revenue growth, strategic business development, contract negotiation, and commercial risk oversight.
• Experience leading complex bids and handling high-profile client engagements with commendable executive presence and influencing skills at senior management and board levels.
